Vaginal Access Device

Vaginal Access Device

The Problem

Currently, the method for accessing the uterus, whether for IUD insertion, endometrial biopsy, or hysteroscopy or visualization via access through the cervix, entails the use of a tenaculuma to hold the cervix in place and, when necessary, bull to create a straight path into the uterus. Thea tenaculum consists of a scissor like instrument, with pointed tips at the end of each arm. These tips are what are used to grab the soft tissue of the cervix Due to this, 70-80% of women experience pain, whena tenaculum is used. Some experience bleeding. A more recent technology used for stabilization of the cervix uses suction, via a syringe like tip.Pain is still reported with this device, yet not as severe. Sadly, we have had clinicians tell us that the cervix is not innervated. , thus decreasing a need for a better solution.

Our Solution:

We have women on our development team. We also have friends and relatives that have or have had HUD’s implanted. Our solution is designed to minimize pain and alleviate ALL bleeding during the access to the uterus. At the same time, we are focused on ensuring clincians are able to easily perform the procedures requiring them access to the uterus. Therefore, our solution is designed to allow one handed insertion of instruments with clear visualization.
